NIHR Delegation calls on Shura Council Chief

Shura Council Chairman, Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh received National Institution of Human Rights Chairman, Abdulaziz Hassan Abu and members of its Board of Directors, who presented him with the NIHR’s Second Annual Report for 2014.

The Shura Council Chairman praised the high level of professionalism of Mr. Abul and the Board Members, which he said clearly contributed to the strengthening of Bahrain’s progress and in improving its achievements in the field of human rights.

He said the NIHR had valuably supported the Council with the various international conventions and treaties. He complimented the NIHR for their dedication to completing the Annual Report, which added credibility and showcased Bahrain’s productive actions taken in the field of human rights under the reform project of His Majesty the King and under the terms of the Constitution and the National Action Charter.

Mr. Al Saleh confirmed His Majesty the King’s strong belief and focus on this area with the support of the NIHR and on achieving membership of the Arab Court of Human Rights.  This he said was clear indication of the direction and dedication of His Majesty the King’s wise leadership to save and protect human rights and Bahrain’s commitment to maintain and conserve human rights.

He expressed his appreciation to all NIHR Board members for their efforts and initiatives in supporting the freedom and rights that respect the rule of law and strengthen the system of legislation and ensure best practices in the field of human rights.

The visiting delegation thanked Mr. Al Saleh for the warm welcome and the hospitality they received and for his support, commitment and cooperation to actively participate in the dissemination of the human rights culture through the Shura Council’s Human Rights Committee.
