NIHR’s Delegation visit to Prime Minister

His Royal Highness, Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, received the Chairman and Board of Directors of the National Institution of Human Rights who presented to him the Second Annual Report for 2014.

The Prime Minister praised the NIHR for their responsibilities and work in the field of human rights and their prominent role in the defence of Bahrain and addressing those who attempt to tarnish Bahrain’s human rights record.

The Prime Minister also praised the efforts undertaken by the NIHR in the preparation of the report, which documented the human rights position in Bahrain and its progress and achievements.

The Prime Minister asserted that Bahrain was proud to have a distinguished record on human rights based on international constitutional and legal texts and expressed how this reflected the fact that Bahrain attached great importance to coexistence and brotherhood within a comprehensive framework consisting of customs, traditions and the values of the Islamic religion.

The Prime Minister stressed how all government development programmes had placed human rights at the forefront of their priorities to meet the demands of citizens, maintain their dignity, ensure their right to a safe and dignified life and, was an important pillar for the various developments taking place across all fields in Bahrain.
