NIHR Official meets MWPS
The National Institution of Human Rights Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Committee Chairperson, Maria Khoury met with the Migrant Workers Protection Society Chairperson, Marietta Dias and its Secretary-General, Helen Carvalho de Oliveira.
Among the topics highlighted during the discussions were the legal framework of the NIHR and its role in the promotion and protection of human rights, as well as its activities on relevant human rights issues, particularly those relating to the protection of migrant workers. Some matters regarding ‘worker arrivals’ and identifying potential solutions with the competent authorities, were also discussed.
The parties also agreed on the need for cooperation, with an emphasis on building continued communication channels between the two, in support of efforts to achieve common goals that promote and protect the rights of migrant workers in Bahrain.
