NIHR delegation listening to the main commissioner on transitional justice’s experiment

A delegation of the National Institution of Human Rights, now on a visit to Northern Ireland, met Northern Ireland Commissioner on Transitional Justice.

The Bahrain delegation conveyed to their host the greetings of the NIHR Chairman Dr. Abdulaziz Abul and members of it governing board who, in turn, briefed the visitors on his person experience as commissioner.

During the visit, the NIHR delegation met several personalities on various organisations associated with human rights and discussed several issues of interest to both sides.

Mr. McBride said he was delighted to meet with the Bahrain delegation and wished the NIHR every success in promoting human rights.

The NIHR delegation includes, among others, Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, Prof. Maria Khoury, Khalid Al Shaer, Dr. Hameed Hussein and Jameela Al Sammak.

Their programme includes meetings with leading figures in Northern Ireland to take advantage of their expertise in the field of human rights.

Mr. McBride manages the Wave Trauma Centre in Belfast, in addition to his responsibilities as Editor of the organisation’s magazine. He is also a member in the Group Management Council and the Healing Through Remembering group, created to allow Northern Ireland to address the problems of the past. He joined the group after his wife and her father became victims of in a bomb blast in 1993.

Mr. McBride earned an honours degree in youth work and a master's degree in reconciliation studies.
