National Institution for Human Rights Participates in a dialogue symposium entitled “Promoting respect for human rights... duties and challenges”

The National Institution for Human Rights, represented by its President, Engineer Ali Ahmed Al-Dirazi, participated in the open dialogue symposium held by the Secretariat General of Grievances entitled “Promoting Respect for Human Rights...Duties and Challenges” on the occasion of Human Rights Day, which falls on December 10th of each year.


Al-Dirazi participated as a keynote speaker in the symposium, where the process of human rights development in the Kingdom of Bahrain was introduced, along integrated paths, including the establishment of national agencies concerned with the promotion of human rights with specific specialization. The aspects of cooperation between these agencies and institutions within the legal frameworks that govern their work were also reviewed. Some of the challenges facing the work of these bodies were also discussed, including how to gain public trust and spread a culture of respect for human rights, and their relations with civil society organizations.

The symposium was attended by a group of participants representing several parties, and Ms. Ghada Hamid Habib, Secretary-General of Grievances and Head of the Commission for the Rights of Prisoners and Detainees, Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Dirazi, President of the National Institution for Human Rights, and Mr. Muhammad Khaled Al-Hazza, Acting Attorney General and Head of the Special Investigation Unit.
