NIHR's Deputy Chairperson receives Chairman of Board of Trustees of Bahrain Foundation for Reconciliation and Civil Discourse (BFRCD)
His Excellency Mr. Abdullah Al Derazi, NIHR's Deputy Chairperson, welcomed Mr. Suhail Algosaibi, Chairman of Board of Trustees of Bahrain Foundation for Reconciliation and Civil Discourse (BFRCD), who, in turn, introduced Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish, global expert on the issues of human rights and conflict settlements.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency the Chairperson welcomed the guests, and presented an overview of the work of the National Institution, its action plan, and the programs and activities that have been implemented in various fields and aspects of human rights, whether legal, social, political, cultural, or educational. He also reviewed the efforts exerted by the Institution in the field of protection and preservation of human rights.
Mr. Suhail Algosaibi, Chairman of Board of Trustees of Bahrain Foundation for Reconciliation and Civil Discourse (BFRCD), commended the efforts, programs, and activities of the Institution, which aim at promoting the rights and freedoms in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the preservation of legal and humanitarian achievements and gains by the Kingdom of Bahrain.
On his part, Dr. Abuelaish presented a brief of his experience in the field of defending human rights cases, civil peace and conflict settlements. He also discussed his experience of war and hatred, injustice and fear, sharing his conviction that conflict and violence are results of the lack of confidence, touching on the concepts of peace and reconciliation, and commending the NIHR's efforts this regard. He stressed the importance of promoting volunteerism in national and humanitarian work, highlighting the importance of the homeland and its value.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Abuelaish presented to His Excellency the Deputy Chairperson a copy of his book (I Shall Not Hate), published in 2010 and translated into 23 languages.
