NIHR receives Director of the Middle East and West Asia Division of the United Nations Department of Political Affairs

Within the framework of NIHR’s cooperation with the international organizations working in the area of human rights, HE Mr. Saeed bin Mohamed Al-Faihani met with Mr. Darko Mocibob, Director of the Middle East and West Asia Division of the United Nations Department of Political Affairs, in the presence of HE Mr. Amin Al-Sharkawi, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Resident Coordinator of the UN Activities in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Meeting dealt with various topics, notably the NIHR’s role in deepening relations of cooperation with the United Nations in the area of enhancement and protection of human rights, in addition to the role of the UN and its activities in various human rights-related issues, particularly in relation to means of mutual cooperation through NIHR’s support for human rights issues and capacity building, in compliance with the international human rights instruments and their subsequent obligations by the Kingdom of Bahrain, the relevant international mechanisms of the Human Rights Council, in addition to investigating the obstacles and challenges encountering NIHR’s work.

For his part, Mr. Darko Mocibob, Director of the Middle East and West Asia Division of the United Nations Department of Political Affairs, praised the legislative development experienced by the NIHR, which serves the work of the legal system of Bahrain.

The two sides agreed on the need to strengthen cooperation between them, which is important to support efforts to achieve common goals.
