NIHR Launches Its 13th Annual Report for 2025
The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) launched its 13th Annual Report for 2025 during a press conference held at its headquarters in the presence of representatives from the press and media. The conference highlighted the report’s key findings and human rights-related content, as well as the Institution’s principal activities and efforts to protect and promote human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, alongside the report’s key recommendations.
During the conference, Eng. Ali Ahmed Alderazi, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), presented the report’s main themes and objectives and highlighted the activities and initiatives undertaken by the Institution throughout 2025 in accordance with its legal mandate. These included receiving complaints and providing legal assistance, conducting field visits, monitoring human rights-related issues, strengthening cooperation with various stakeholders, and participating in regional and international forums.
Alderazi stated that the Annual Report serves as a national tool for monitoring, evaluation, and development, reflecting the Institution’s commitment to carrying out its mandate independently and objectively, thereby supporting national efforts to continuously advance the human rights framework in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He also expressed his appreciation to all relevant entities for their cooperation with the Institution and commended the continued support of the press and media and their role in highlighting the Institution’s work and mission and promoting public awareness of human rights.
Dr. Maha Al Shehab, Child Rights Commissioner, presented the key issues covered in the section of the report dedicated to children’s rights. She highlighted the issues monitored by the Institution in relation to children’s rights, together with the main findings and observations, as well as efforts aimed at strengthening child protection, ensuring the full enjoyment of children’s rights, and safeguarding their best interests.
At the conclusion of the conference, Dr. Malallah Al Hammadi, Vice Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), presented the report’s key recommendations, which were formulated on the basis of the monitoring and follow-up activities undertaken by the Institution throughout the year. The recommendations aim to support the development of human rights-related legislation, policies, and practices and to strengthen safeguards for the protection of rights and freedoms. He reaffirmed the Institution’s commitment to following up on the implementation of its recommendations and coordinating with the competent authorities in this regard.
The issuance of the 13th Annual Report forms part of the Institution’s commitment to exercising its mandate in accordance with its establishing law and the Paris Principles governing the work of national human rights institutions, thereby strengthening its role in protecting and promoting human rights and fostering a culture of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
