NIHR receives Charge d’Affaires of Embassy of Netherlands

Ms. Maria Khoury, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), received at the NIHR’s headquarters in the Seef District Mr. Vichar Slachter, Acting Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands to the Kingdom of Bahrain. Present were Counsellor-at-Law Mr. Yasser Ghanim Shaheen, Deputy Secretary General, and Ms. Marley Boualada from the Dutch Embassy.

During the meeting, Ms. Khoury welcomed Mr. Slachter, noting the cooperation in the field of establishing joint training programs between the NIHR and the Dutch Embassy, which lasted throughout 2016, in which representatives of civil society organizations, youth associations and media were trained, stressing the NIHR’s desire to continue this cooperation to achieve common goals and aspirations.

For his part, Mr. Slachter expressed his thanks for the good hospitality and reception, and stressed the readiness of the Embassy to support the NIHR to strengthen its efforts in spreading the culture of human rights, through the Partnership Program, which is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, which aims to support training programs in the field of human rights and democracy in the Arab region and implements mechanisms for joint technical cooperation and exchange of expertise in the field of the protection and promotion of human rights.
