National Institution for Human Rights receives a delegation from its counterpart in the State of Qatar

His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Hassan Abul, the NIHR's chairperson, received a delegation from the National Human Rights Committee of Qatar, headed by Her Excellency Mrs. Maryam Bint Abdullah Al-Attiyah, Secretary-General of the Committee, at the headquarters of the NIHR in the  Seef District.

At the outset of the meeting, the NIHR's Chairperson  welcomed the visiting delegation and wished them a pleasant stay in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He commended the role played by the National Human Rights Committee of Qatar at the local and international levels under the chairmanship of His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Smaikh Al-Marri, in delivering real support and cooperation, and for the important role played by the National Committee and its effective contribution and prominent participation in international human rights forums, as continued cooperation with them is always welcomed for the good and benefit of the two brotherly countries.

His Excellency the Chairperson of the NIHR and overview of the NIHR and its most important objectives and functions set out in the law establishing it, explaining its role in dealing with human rights issues in the Kingdom of Bahrain in accordance with the mandate entrusted to it in the promotion and protection of such rights, emphasizing that human rights are preserved and protected in Bahrain even prior to the establishment of the National Institution for Human Rights according to the guidance and support of the wise leadership. He added that the National Institution is moving forward on firm ground and civilized initiatives with the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, may God protect him, to achieve the supreme goals which are the basis of establishing the Institution for the support, guarantee and development of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

For her part, Her Excellency Mrs. Maryam Bint Abdullah Al-Attiyah, Secretary-General of the National Human Rights Committee of Qatar, thanked His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Abul  for the warm reception, emphasizing that the State of Qatar has brotherly relations and historical links with the Kingdom of Bahrain, and that the National Committee is ready to support the work of the NIHR in the field of human rights through the provision of training programs and other forms of support and assistance to achieve common goals.

The program of the visiting delegation of the National Human Rights Committee of Qatar included a tour in the divisions of the NIHR, where they were briefed on the training center and the Library of the Institution, in addition to the office for the receipt of complaints. The meeting was attended by His Excellency Mr. Abdullah Alderazi, Vice Chairperson of the Institution, Her Excellency Mrs. Maria Khoury, a member of the Council of Commissioners and the Chairperson of the complaints, monitoring and follow-up committee, His Excellency Mr. Yasser Shahin, Counsel-at Law and Acting Secretary-General, and Mr. Fahd Al-Mualla, Director of Information Technology and Communication Department of the Secretariat of the Institution.
