NIHR receives Member of Kuwait National Assembly
The Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), Ms. Maria Khoury, received Dr. Adel Jassem Al-Damkhi, Member of Kuwait National Assembly and Chairman of the Kuwaiti Association of the Basic Evaluators for Human Rights (KABEHR). The meeting was attended by HE Mr. Ibrahim Al-Nefaiei, Member of the House of Representatives. This came within the framework of the development of mechanisms of joint cooperation and the exchange of experiences and expertise between the two sides.
Ms. Khoury gave a brief on the work of the NIHR and its main objectives and competences stated in its Incorporation Law, explaining the role assigned to it in dealing with human rights issues in Bahrain as well as its cooperation with other national mechanisms.
During the meeting, which was attended by Mr. Khaled Alshaer and Member of the Council of Commissioners, Dr. Malallah Alhammadi, dealt with the importance of joint coordination between the two sides in the areas of training and education and the unification of efforts of the two parties in order to strengthen cooperation in the promotion and dissemination of a culture of human rights.
For his part, Dr. Al-Damkhi extended his thanks for the good reception, pointing out the brotherly relations and historical ties with the Kingdom of Bahrain, stressing the importance of activating ways of cooperation in support for the efforts to achieve common goals.
