NIHR and Sheffield Hallam University Discuss Strengthening Cooperation

Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, Chairman of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR received at the NIHR’s headquarters in the Seef District Mrs. Harriet Austin, Human Rights Adviser, and Mr. Christopher Riley, Acting Head of Human Rights and Social Justice, Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice, Sheffield Hallam University (SHU), UK. The meeting was attended by Chancellor Yasser Ghanim Shaheen, NIHR Secretary-General.

At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Derazi welcomed the guests and gave an overview of the NIHR’s role in spreading and promoting a culture of human rights through training and educational programmes introduced by the NIHR to all segments of society in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in cooperation with educational institutions and civil society organisations.

The two sides discussed ways of coordination and cooperation between the NIHR and SHU by setting up a joint mechanism for cooperation with regard to institutional building represented in the promotion and dissemination of a culture of human rights, in a way that contributes to supporting and enriching the institutional academic process.
