Statement Chairperson of the NIHR on determining a Mechanism for the Implementation of a Number of Human Rights Files

Ms. Maria Khouri, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), stated that the Board of Commissioners of the NIHR is in the process of determining a mechanism for implementing a number of human rights dossiers which are part of the strategy and work plan of the NIHR for the years 2019-2021.

Ms. Khouri explained that some of these dossiers include, but not limited to, environment and human rights, and the resolution to ban work in the afternoon, the development of the relationship of the NIHR with civil society institutions, flexible work permit, child labor, business sector and human right and the hate speech, which will be worked upon in conjunction with ongoing work on topics that are at the heart of the NIHR’s mandate and which revolve around the promotion, protection, monitoring and reporting of human rights.

 

 

Ms. Khouri stressed that the development of human rights work and the dissemination of human rights culture in the Kingdom of Bahrain are among the priorities and objectives that the NIHR seeks to achieve in a clear, transparent, neutral and professional manner in accordance with international human rights standards, as the NIHR is looking forward to being a destination for various international human rights institutions that are wishing to identify the human rights situation in the Kingdom.
