NIHR Participates in the 30th Session of the Arab Childhood Committee
Dr. Maha Saleh Al Shehab, Child Rights Commissioner at the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), participated via videoconference in the 30th Session of the Arab Childhood Committee and the 22nd Meeting of the Committee for Monitoring the Cessation of Violence Against Children, as part of the NIHR's efforts to promote children's rights and support their active participation in matters affecting their rights.
During the meetings, the NIHR's proposal on "Enhancing Children's Active Participation in Decision-Making on Matters Concerning Their Rights at the Arab Level" was discussed. The discussions concluded with a recommendation to coordinate with Member States to explore the possibility of organizing an Arab forum bringing together children and decision-makers, with its outcomes to be presented to the Arab Childhood Committee during its subsequent sessions.
This recommendation underscores the importance of providing children with opportunities to express their views and participate in discussions on decisions affecting their rights and future, in line with the principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. It also reflects the NIHR's role in supporting human rights initiatives and strengthening joint Arab cooperation in the field of children's rights.
