NIHR receives UK Ambassador to Bahrain

Mr. Saeed bin Mohamed Al-Faihani, Chairperon of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), received HE Mr. Simon Martin, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Kingdom of Bahrain, in the presence of Mr. Abdullah Ahmed Al-Derazi, NIHR’s Vice Chairperson, and Dr. Khalifa bin Ali Al-Fadel, NIHR’s Acting Secretary-General, at the NIHR’s headquarters in Seef district, where the NIHR’s Chairperson welcomed HE Ambassador of the UK, praising the strong historical relations between the two friendly countries and the development and progress witnessed by them, and expressing his appreciation for Ambassador’s role in promoting bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries.

During the meeting, NIHR’s Chairperson reviewed with Ambassador of the UK the developments of the human rights situation in the Kingdom of Bahrain and explained the contents of the report of the undeclared visit by a delegation of the NIHR to some reform institutions, stressing that the NIHR is performing its role impartially.

For his part, Ambassador Simon Martin expressed his appreciation for the NIHR’s humanitarian work, praising the positive steps taken by the NIHR through the opening of a branch dedicated for the provision of legal assistance to expatriate workers, domestic workers and their families, as well as the inauguration of NIHR’s toll free line to serve both citizens and residents.
