NIHR Celebrates Bahraini Woman’s Day

01 Dec 2016

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s General Secretariat organized an event on the occasion of Bahraini Women’s Day, which falls on December 1 every year, believing in the importance of the contribution of the Bahraini woman and her role in the development efforts and progress of the country, and in appreciation for her support to the human rights process on both local and international levels.  This year, the event is held under the slogan of “Bahraini Woman in Legal and Judicial Fields”.

On this occasion, the NIHR highly appreciated the role of Bahraini woman in enhancing her marked position, through the great gains and tangible achievements she could make on various political, economic, social and cultural levels, as well as the decision-making positions she could reach thanks to her ambition and higher studies, given the fact that the Bahraini woman has obtained her entire rights just as man, the matter which stabilized her position as a core partner in the Bahraini society along with man, and presented herself as a honorable model on local, regional and international levels.

The Bahraini woman wouldn’t have occupied such special place as she does now if it hadn’t been for royal patronage and wise directives of the presence of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, may God protect him, as well as the continuous support she gained from the Supreme Council of Women under the chairpersonship of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of the King of Bahrain, and the conviction of the country's wise leadership in relation to role of women in society as a core partner in the course of progress and development of the country.

The event included a speech made by the NIHR’s Vice President Mr. Abdullah Al-Derazi on behalf of the head and members of the NIHR’s Council of Commissioners and Secretariat-General, in which he expressed the NIHR’s full support for all efforts to enhance Bahraini woman’s position, respect and enjoyment of the entire benefits and rights on civil, political, economic, social and cultural levels.  During the event, flowers were handed to the NIHR’s female employees in appreciation for their efforts to support the NIHR’s performance in achieving its goals and terms of reference.
