Statement by NIHR Chairperson on International Workers’ Day

On the occasion of International Workers’ Day, Eng. Ali Ahmed Alderazi, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), extended his heartfelt congratulations to all workers in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in recognition of their valuable contributions across various sectors and their active role in driving progress, construction, and national development. He praised their dedication to advancing the Kingdom’s renaissance under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the close follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Alderazi affirmed that workers represent the true wealth upon which the nation’s progress is built. He noted that International Workers’ Day provides an important opportunity to renew appreciation for the workers’ significant efforts in achieving economic and social development, as they form the cornerstone of productivity and advancement. He also commended the national legislative framework that ensures the protection of the rights of both workers and employers.
Alderazi further emphasized the importance of providing a safe and healthy working environment that upholds workers’ rights as enshrined in national legislation and aligned with international labor standards. He stressed that this is essential to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in relation to the tripartite production partners: the government, workers, and employers.
