NIHR Chairperson’s Statement on the Occasion of Bahraini Women’s Day
Eng. Ali Ahmed Alderazi, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), praised the legislative progress and the steadfast efforts made by the Kingdom of Bahrain in protecting and promoting the rights of women. He affirmed that these achievements come as a result of the noble care of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the country, and the follow-up and support of the Supreme Council for Women, chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King, President of the Supreme Council for Women.
This came on the occasion of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s celebration of Bahraini Women’s Day, which falls on the first of December each year. Alderazi emphasized that this national occasion reflects the Kingdom’s appreciation and pride in the pioneering role of Bahraini women in supporting the nation’s progress, as they are essential partners in sustainable development, influential contributors to pathways of advancement and change, and proactive participants across various fields of national service.
The Chairperson of the NIHR stressed the Institution’s firm commitment to supporting and empowering Bahraini women and protecting their rights. He called upon government entities, the private sector, and civil society organizations to continue strengthening the principles of equal opportunities and gender equality, and to integrate women’s needs into national policies and plans. He also highlighted that opening equitable opportunities for women and girls contributes to the growth of societies, enhances the path of sustainable development, and supports creativity and innovation to build a more advanced and prosperous future for all.
