NIHR's Vice Chairperson holds meetings during his Visit to Paris

On the sidelines of his visit to Paris and in coordination with the French Embassy to the Kingdom of Bahrain, His Excellency Mr. Abdullah Al Derazi, Vice Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), held a meeting with Mr. Didier Chapert, Deputy Director of the Middle East Department in the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This visit aims to promote cooperation relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of France in the field of human rights. Mr. Al Derazi gave a brief summary in which he explained the NIHR's action strategy, goals and competences set forth in its establishment law in accordance with the Paris principles, as well as the role played by the NIHR in disseminating the culture of human rights through regular courses, symposia and workshops organized by the NIHR.

For his part, Mr. Didier Chapert lauded the Bahrain-France relationships and joint cooperation in all fields, including human rights, and commended the role played by the NIHR in disseminating the culture of human rights at the national and international levels, emphasizing the importance of promoting cooperation between the two sides in exchanging experiences and providing advice which support the NIHR's work. The meeting was attended by Mr. Prono Cosanil from the Subsidiary Division for human rights and humanitarian affairs in the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Moreover, The NIHR Vice chairperson visit program to Paris included a meeting with Senator Jane Piziete, member of the French Senate and Chairman of the European Relations Committee of the Senate, in addition to a meeting with Mr. Andrie Viragin, Secretary-General of Detention facilities, during which he explained the role played by the Department in inspecting French prisons, in addition to being briefed on some reports and recommendations issued by the Department.
