NIHR Chairperson Statement on the Royal Order Establishing and Forming the Committee for Documenting the Epic of National Resilience
Eng. Ali Ahmed Alderazi, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights, affirmed that Royal Order No. (20) of 2026, issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, may God protect and preserve him, regarding the establishment and formation of the Committee for Documenting the Epic of National Resilience, embodies a strategic national vision aimed at preserving national memory and documenting the pivotal events witnessed by the Kingdom of Bahrain through an integrated institutional methodology grounded in well-established professional and legal standards.
Alderazi explained that documenting the Iranian attacks against the Kingdom of Bahrain, along with the national positions, institutional responsibility, and societal solidarity that accompanied them, constitutes a national necessity that contributes to safeguarding the Kingdom’s historical record, upholding the right to knowledge, and enhancing the awareness of current and future generations of the scale of the challenges faced by the country, as well as the cohesion and capability demonstrated by state institutions and society in addressing those challenges efficiently and competently.
He added that, from a human rights perspective, documentation is not limited to recording facts and events; rather, it extends to documenting the resulting humanitarian, social, economic, and institutional impacts, thereby ensuring the creation of a documented and objective national record that takes into account national security requirements and preserves relevant documents and information in accordance with the approved legal frameworks.
He noted that the formation of a national committee comprising official bodies and specialized institutions enhances the comprehensiveness and accuracy of the documentation process and contributes to unifying national efforts within an integrated professional framework, ensuring the presentation of a documented and balanced national narrative that reflects the reality of the events and their consequences.
Alderazi concluded his statement by emphasizing that the Committee’s outputs will constitute an important national asset for the National Archives and will provide a documented reference that can be utilized in educational, media, and research fields, thereby contributing to strengthening national awareness and highlighting the resilience and solidarity demonstrated by the Kingdom of Bahrain among its leadership, people, and institutions in the face of the most difficult challenges.
