NIHR and British Embassy hold a Video Conference Meeting

Ms. Maria Khoury, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), held a video conference meeting with Mrs. Sherrill Ides, Head of the Department of Political Affairs, Media and Public Relations, and Mr. Chris Thompson, Head of Programs at the British Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This meeting comes within the framework of permanent cooperation between the NIHR and the British Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Ms. Khoury presented a brief on the NIHR’s efforts to raise awareness of citizens and residents under such exceptional conditions through its statements and tweets as well as the visits conducted by the NIHR to a number of isolation and quarantine centres to review the procedures taken by them to provide medical service to the infected and contacts.

At the same time, the Chairperson of the NIHR pointed out the precautionary measures taken by the administrations of the correction and rehabilitation centres to preserve the right to health, through which they watched human rights in accordance with international standards in light of the Coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19).

The two sides also discussed the resampling  of some virtual training programs related to the implementation of the NIHR’s competencies in the field of receiving complaints and the mechanism of dealing with them.
