NIHR Council of Commissioners Participates in the 2nd National Consultation Meeting

The Council of Commissioners of the National Institution for Human Rights participated in the second national consultation meeting on preparing the national report of the Kingdom of Bahrain for the third round of mechanism of  Universal Periodic Review.

 

HE Mr. Abdulla Abdullatif Abdulla, Undersecretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, started the meeting with thanking the participants for their attendance and commended the effort exerted by the Kingdom to enhance and promote human rights. He highlighted the honorable Government's keenness on urging of civil society organizations to submit their vision on the Universal periodic review of the Kingdom of Bahrain,  which to be submitted in November 2016 and discussed in 2017,  as well as encouraging civil society organizations to present their parallel reports as it’ their guaranteed  right.

 

On her part, Ms. Maria Khouri, Chairperson of NIHR' Complaints, Follow-up and Monitoring Committee, confirmed that the NIHR submitted its visions in this regard and is awaiting comments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At end of the meeting, HE Ambassador Abdulla Abdullatif Abdulla thanked the participants in the second consultation meeting and stressed the necessity that each and every one shall submit their visions,  encouraging civil society organizations once again to present  the parallel reports and called on the National Institution for Human Rights to intensify training and education programs for civil society organizations in order to boost their capabilities in the field of human rights and preparation of parallel human rights reports.
