NIHR Organizes an Introductory Meeting for “Opportunities” Program Members

Within the framework of strategic partnership with the Ministry of Labor and Social Development and the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs to provide training opportunities for Bahraini youth through the “Opportunities” program, the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) organized a remote introductory meeting about its training program on human rights, which targets university students, whether students in the Kingdom of Bahrain or abroad, who have the desire to perform practical training for their academic requirements, or individuals and researchers who have a desire to know about the NIHR’s mechanism of action and gain experience in the area of human rights.

The program was opened by Mrs. Latifa Al-Jalahma, Director of the NIHR Legal Affairs and Training Department, who welcomed the participants and introduced to them the objectives of the training program, which contains a number of topics related to the culture of human rights, the mechanism and requirements for completion of the training program and its duration.

Then Ms. Maria Khoury, Chairperson of the NIHR, gave an introductory lecture on the NIHR’s role, terms of reference and mechanism of action in the area of promoting and protecting human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the services provided by the NIHR to citizens and residents and the NIHR’s legal framework, in addition to reviewing its strategy, action plan and its most prominent achievements in the area of protecting and promoting human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The training program, which will extend until April 2021, aims to develop skills in research, analysis and critical thinking in the area of human rights, and to develop skills in the area of human rights by providing information on human rights principles and concepts.
