Secretary-General Receives Research on Environmental Pollution

Mr. Yasser Ghanim Shaheen, Secretary-General of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), received researcher Tofoof Hassan, one of the trainees enrolled in NIHR’s Human Rights Research Fellowship Programme, who presented him with a copy of her research paper entitled: “Transboundary Environmental Pollution and the International Responsibility Arising Therefrom.”

During the meeting, the Secretary-General commended the research paper for its scientific approach and valuable information on the issue of environmental pollution that transcends national borders and the resulting international responsibility. He affirmed NIHR’s commitment to supporting research initiatives and academic activities that contribute to developing the capacities of students and researchers and enhancing their knowledge of human rights and contemporary related issues.

He further emphasized that NIHR attaches particular importance to empowering trainees and researchers to address human rights-related topics from scientific and legal perspectives, thereby promoting awareness of the importance of environmental protection as one of the aspects associated with the enjoyment of fundamental rights and freedoms.
