22 Oct 2025

Over the course of two consecutive days, the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) received a group of Scouts affiliated with the Directorate of Physical Education, Scouting, and Girl Guides at the Ministry of Education, as part of its initiatives aimed at promoting a culture of human rights and instilling its principles among young people.

They were welcomed by Dr. Maha Saleh Al Shehab, the Child Rights Commissioner, who greeted them and delivered an awareness lecture titled “The Role of the National Institution for Human Rights and the Main Responsibilities of the Child Rights Commissioner.”

The visit, which included 90 Scouts from the intermediate stage, featured a number of interactive activities presented by the NIHR Secretariat-General team focusing on human rights concepts, particularly child rights. The aim was to enhance the participants’ practical understanding and develop their skills in comprehending and applying the principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

These visits come within the framework of the NIHR’s ongoing efforts to promote a culture of human rights within Bahraini society and to raise awareness among youth about the importance of respecting fundamental rights and freedoms, thereby contributing to building a generation that is aware of its rights and duties toward the community.
