Child Rights Commissioner Conducts Field Visit to the Protection and Social Care Complex
As part of the ongoing follow-up on the conditions of children under care, to ensure their enjoyment of legally guaranteed rights, to strengthen safeguards aimed at their protection, and to support the efforts of the relevant authorities in enhancing the level of services provided to them in a manner that serves their best interests, Dr. Maha Saleh Al Shihab, Child Rights Commissioner, conducted an inspection visit to the Protection and Social Care Complex in Hamad Town.
During the visit, Dr. Al Shihab was briefed on the Complex’s mandates and assigned responsibilities, and reviewed the services and programmes provided to children, the mechanisms for receiving reports, and the approved placement procedures. She also conducted a field tour covering the various facilities of the Complex to assess the care environment and the quality of services delivered, and to verify their compliance with relevant national and international standards on child rights, thereby contributing to strengthening the efficiency of the protection system, safeguarding children’s dignity, and ensuring their safety.
This visit comes within the framework of the Child Rights Commissioner’s commitment to intensifying field visits to institutions concerned with childcare and to enhancing direct engagement with the competent authorities. Such efforts contribute to identifying challenges and providing supportive recommendations to further develop the protection and care system, and to ensure that all children fully enjoy their rights without discrimination, in pursuit of their best interests at all times.
