Eng. Ali Ahmed Alderazi, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), participated, along with several members of the Council of Commissioners, the Secretary-General, and staff members of the General Secretariat, in a regional virtual seminar entitled “Artificial Intelligence, Social Justice, and Decent Work for All.” The seminar was organized by the National Human Rights Committee of the State of Qatar, in cooperation with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights – Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa, the Arab Network of National Human Rights Institutions, and a number of regional and international partners, on the occasion of the World Day of Social Justice.

The seminar discussed the role of media in shaping public discourse on decent work and social protection amid rapid digital transformation. It also explored the opportunities and challenges posed by artificial intelligence in advancing social justice, as well as the related professional and ethical considerations, particularly within the media sector.

This participation reflects NIHR’s commitment to keeping pace with developments related to digital transformation and its implications for the human rights system, and to exploring ways to harness artificial intelligence technologies in a manner that promotes the right to decent work for all without discrimination.
