Hassan, a Child Rights Commissioner, in addition to her current duties as a member of the Council of Commissioners.

On this occasion, Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, Chairman of the NIHR said, “The appointment of Dr. Hooreya was due to her experience in this regard, as she participated in a number of specialised workshops on the mechanism of dealing with children’s complaints that were held at the United Kingdom, and she has knowledge of the experience of different countries in the world in the human rights issue in general and in the field of children's rights in particular, in addition to her knowledge of international agreements and national legislation related to children's rights, wishing her every success in her work tasks.

It is worth mentioning that the NIHR in the Kingdom of Bahrain is considered the first institution in the region to appoint a commissioner specialised in children’s rights, and this decision is based on its powers under its Establishment Law, which gives it the right to follow-up and monitor all issues related to human rights, including political, civil, economic, social and cultural rights, including the rights of the child.
