The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) participated in the 9th International Scientific and Practical Conference titled “Problems of Human Rights Protection: Exchange of Best Ombudsman Practices”, held within the framework of the 10th meeting of the Eurasian Alliance of Ombudsmen and National Human Rights Institutions, which took place in Moscow, the capital of the Russian Federation.

Dr. Malallah Al Hammadi, Vice Chairperson of the Institution, delivered a speech on “Human Rights Protection in the Context of Digitalization of Society”, where he highlighted that the NIHR attaches great importance to keeping pace with digital transformation by implementing awareness programs and activities focused on the right to privacy and combating cyberbullying. He also noted that the Institution monitors human rights issues on social media platforms and strengthens partnerships with both the public and private sectors to promote digital safety.

He further emphasized the need for joint efforts among all sectors to ensure the integration of human rights principles into the design and implementation of modern technologies, stressing the importance of continuously updating national legislation in line with international standards to ensure that human dignity remains at the core of all technological developments.

It is worth noting that NIHR is the first Arab institution to join the Eurasian Alliance, which serves as a prominent international platform for dialogue and exchange of experiences among ombudsman offices and national institutions concerned with the protection and promotion of human rights. The Alliance includes a number of national institutions from various countries around the world and aims to enhance cooperation and develop mechanisms for human rights protection at the regional and international levels.
