NIHR launches a Special Competition for Children on the Occasion of the 27th Anniversary of Bahrain’s Accession to the UN International Convention on the Rights of the Child

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the adoption by the UN General Assembly of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989, the 27th anniversary of Bahrain’s accession to the Convention and the 7th anniversary of the issuance of the Child Law in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Counselor-at-Law Yasser Ghanim Shaheen, the Secretary General of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), stated that the NIHR is launching a special competition for the children in celebration of this occasion, which shall focus on the articles of the Constitution, national legislation and international convention, and which will address the children in a simple language and a funny style and will contribute to the development of children’s thinking, research and cognitive skills. 

The NIHR’s Secretary General stated that, “A number of awards will be given to the winners in the competition, which will also include information about the NIHR as it is celebrating this year its 10th anniversary”, pointing out that holding such event falls within the NIHR’s program of the promotion and dissemination of a culture of human rights in general and child’s rights in particular.
