28 Apr 2026

As part of efforts to strengthen national partnership with civil society institutions and expand areas of cooperation with associations and non-governmental organizations, the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) held a coordination meeting with a number of these entities to examine the human rights implications arising from the Iranian attacks on the Kingdom of Bahrain. This comes in support of the preparation of the human rights report currently being developed by the Institution, which will include a dedicated section for the views of civil society organizations, reflecting their perspectives and monitoring of the situation as representatives of the public voice, thereby enriching the content of the report and enhancing its comprehensiveness and credibility.

The meeting included a review of key information and observations available لدى the participating associations, in addition to discussing mechanisms for unifying monitoring and documentation efforts to ensure the integration and accuracy of data, in accordance with internationally recognized standards. Emphasis was also placed on the importance of complementarity between national mechanisms and civil society organizations, in a manner that promotes the adoption of a professional methodology based on monitoring and verification, and contributes to enhancing the credibility and quality of the report’s outputs.

The meeting also addressed the working methodology of the subcommittee concerned with monitoring and documenting violations, where ways to involve civil society organizations in providing inputs and supporting reports were discussed, along with strengthening cooperation in the areas of field monitoring, analysis, capacity building, and training.

The meeting concluded with an emphasis on the importance of continuing coordination, intensifying joint efforts, and following up on the implementation of its outcomes, in a manner that supports the preparation of a professional human rights report that accurately and objectively reflects reality.
