NIHR Trains More than 1800 During the First Half of 2021

During the first half of this year, the National institution for Human Rights (NIHR) trained more than 1800 on specialized training programs for the purpose of transforming their knowledge of human rights into practice and daily conduct, in an effort to find out the best ways to practice human rights and freedoms.  The groups that benefited from the training and educational programs included diplomats, media professionals, academics, advisory and trade union bodies, local and regional civil society organizations, youth, public and private university students, human rights defenders, private and commercial institutions, legislative authorities and participants in “FORAS” program in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Development.

Counselor-at-law Yasser Ghanim Shaheen, NIHR’s Secretary-General, stated that the NIHR’s efforts, through the Training and Education Unit and Research Fellowship Program on Human Rights, which aim to supporting and sustaining the training programs provided by it within its strategic role in promoting human rights among various society groups in accordance with national and international standards, shall continue via teleconference in view of the health and preventive precautions due to Covid-19, stressing that the NIHR is constantly working to improve quality in accordance with the best human rights practices to ensure the maximum benefit from these programs, despite Covid-19 conditions, to reflect positively on the trainees and the agencies they represent, as it constitutes the main entrance to promoting a culture of human rights for all segments of society through a number of specialized staff in human rights and legal field, in order to achieve the objectives stipulated by the NIHR Establishment Law as well as the national, regional and international human rights mechanisms that aim to enhancing awareness of human rights in accordance with the best human rights practices.
