NIHR Chairperson Receives Australian Ambassador

Eng. Ali Ahmed Alderazi, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), received His Excellency Mr. Mark Lawrence Donovan, the accredited Ambassador of Australia to the Kingdom of Bahrain and resident in Riyadh, at the Institution’s headquarters.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Mallallah Al-Hammadi, Head of the Detention & Facilities Visitation Committee at NIHR.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise in the field of human rights, in addition to reviewing a number of issues of mutual interest.

Alderazi briefed the Ambassador on the Institution’s key efforts in promoting and protecting human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, particularly in relation to monitoring and follow-up mechanisms, visits to places of detention, and engagement with relevant official bodies.

For his part, the Australian Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the vital role played by the NIHR in advancing human rights, emphasizing the importance of continued cooperation and the exchange of experiences in this critical field.
