Based on its mandate for oversight and protection of rights, the National Human Rights Institution (NIHR) has conducted a public inspection at the remand center situated in the dry dock area, specifically focusing on the section housing juvenile convicts in the border region. The assessment encompassed evaluating the living conditions of the inmates and scrutinizing the quality of their meals. Additionally, the delegation inspected the medical facility and assessed the healthcare services offered to the detainees.
Throughout the visit, representatives from NIHR engaged with several inmates, attentively listening to their concerns, documenting them, and formulating appropriate recommendations to be presented to the relevant authorities.
