NIHR Organizes Awareness Lecture Entitled “My Body Is Off-Limits”
The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) organized an awareness lecture entitled “My Body Is Off-Limits,” targeting more than 60 boys and girls from Al Najah Kindergarten (Early Education). The lecture was held as part of NIHR's efforts to raise children's awareness of their rights, instill concepts of protection and personal safety, and develop their ability to recognize and respond to unsafe behaviors through simplified educational approaches appropriate to their age groups.
The lecture addressed several awareness-raising topics related to children's rights, focusing on the right to physical and psychological safety, the right to privacy, and the right to live in a safe environment. It also introduced children to the importance of respecting their bodily privacy, distinguishing between safe and unsafe touches, expressing refusal when subjected to any inappropriate behavior, and informing parents, teachers, or trusted individuals whenever they feel frightened or uncomfortable.
The lecture featured a series of educational videos, games, and interactive activities that helped convey awareness messages to children in an engaging and accessible manner. These activities encouraged active participation and interaction, enhancing children's understanding of protective concepts while strengthening their self-confidence and ability to seek assistance when needed.
This lecture forms part of NIHR's ongoing efforts to promote a culture of human rights among different age groups, particularly children, through awareness programs and initiatives aimed at fostering an early understanding of rights and reinforcing the values of respect, protection, and safety. These efforts contribute to creating a safe and supportive environment for children's growth and development, ensuring that they are raised with an awareness of their rights and the importance of safeguarding their dignity.
