NIHR and Embassy of the United Kingdom to the Kingdom of Bahrain Discuss Strengthening Joint Cooperation

Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, Chairman of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), emphasised the depth of the relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom, and the continuous growth and development they are witnessing in all fields, noting the effective cooperation between the NIHR and the British Embassy, especially with regard to technical support and the establishment of relevant joint training programs in the human rights field.

This was during his meeting with Mr. Stuart Summers, Deputy Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Kingdom of Bahrain, and Ms. Sarah Shahada, Head of Political Affairs and Communication at the Embassy, in the presence of Mr. Khalid Al Sha’er, NIHR Vice-President.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed a number of issues of common interest, and ways to enhance cooperation and exchange of expertise and experiences in relation to the application of the Alternative Sanctions Law, the Correctional Justice Law for children and their protection from ill-treatment, and procedures related to health care in reform and rehabilitation centres.

For his part, the Deputy British Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the NIHR’s efforts in promoting and protecting human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, stating the Embassy's support for everything that would contribute to achieving NIHR joint goals.
