NIHR Launches its New Website

02 May 2016

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) launched its new website in both Arabic and English in a press conference held at the headquarters of Institution, during which gratitude was extended to the all institutions and media personnel who collaborated with NIHR in disseminating and promoting the culture of human rights in Kingdom of Bahrain.  The launch was attended  by NINR's partners in the legal and media fields.

His Excellency, Dr. Abdulaziz Hassan Abul, Chairperson of National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), confirmed the indication of this launch with regard to the Institution’s keenness on providing the best services and facilitating procedures. He also stated that these efforts were evidence that Institution offers all that can be done to anchor the rules of human rights and glorify their protection, which benefit our dear homeland, the Kingdom of Bahrain.

His Excellency, Dr. Abul also extended his thanks and appreciation, on behalf of the members of the NIHR's Council of Commission, to everyone who contributed both morally and materially to making the launch of  the website possible in its new look, stressing that such contribution is an essential part in helping the organization to consolidate the honorable principles it strives to serve.

Her Excellency Ms. Maria Khoury, Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Committee Chairperson, provided an explanation of the sections that have been updated on the website, affirming Institution’s keenness on supporting the use of modern technology to facilitate the work and its accuracy and quality of information access, as Institution made sure that its website would include all the publications it has issued, in addition to all annual reports, data, and events, so researchers and readers can access them with ease.

In regards to the launch of a complaint-filing application through smart phones or the official website, Ms. Khoury stated that this step stems from Institution’s determination to develop and modernize the means of communication with citizens and residents of the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of Dr. Abul. This launch, according to Ms. Khoury, comes within a bundle of smart phone electronic services that contribute to the facilitation of the complaint-filing procedure, noting that the number of complaints received since the beginning of 2016 has reached 35.

Ms. Khoury said that this application provides the opportunity of filing all kinds of complaints pertaining to any kind of violation, and they are then referred to NIHR's department in charge of following up on complaints. The application provides the possibility of communicating with the NIHR through its website, phone, or email, and it also includes different options, such as identifying types of complaints along with the possibility of attaching images, Ms. Khoury continued.

It will be possible to download this app from Google Play Store on the devices that operate on Android, as well as from App Store on the devices that operate on IOS system in the coming days. The links for download from both application stores will be available on the website of National Institution
