Subcommittee Holds Its Fourth Meeting

The Subcommittee concerned with documenting the human rights and humanitarian implications resulting from the Iranian attacks against the Kingdom of Bahrain held its fourth meeting, chaired by Eng. Ali Ahmed Alderazi, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), as part of the ongoing follow-up on the progress made in preparing the relevant human rights report.

During the meeting, the Subcommittee reviewed the level of progress achieved by the two working teams, particularly with regard to data collection and analysis processes carried out in accordance with approved monitoring and documentation methodologies consistent with human rights standards. The Subcommittee also emphasized the importance of unifying the methodologies and standards adopted in preparing the report, in a manner that contributes to providing accurate and reliable information supporting national efforts aimed at protecting and promoting human rights.

The Subcommittee further discussed ways to continue field visits and coordination meetings with the relevant entities, in addition to a number of initiatives related to community awareness, cooperation with Gulf and Arab national institutions, and strengthening human rights response mechanisms for those affected, reflecting the Institution’s commitment to its national and humanitarian role in following up on human rights issues and addressing them within legal and institutional frameworks.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Subcommittee commended the efforts exerted toward preparing a comprehensive human rights report documenting the repercussions of the regional attacks and their impact on human rights, stressing the importance of continuing to strengthen monitoring and documentation mechanisms and intensifying coordination with official entities, civil society organizations, and relevant international organizations.
