NIHR trains 880 Persons in the 2nd Quarter of 2018

Dr. Khalifa bin Ali Al-Fadhel, Secretary-General of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), said that the training of national staff on the basic principles of human rights is one of the NIHR’s priorities, in order to achieve the objectives contained within the international, regional and national human rights mechanisms, which promote human rights awareness in accordance with the best human rights practices.

Dr. Al-Fadhel added that the NIHR Secretariat-General has trained 880 persons during the 2nd quarter of the current year (with an increase of 132% compared to the same period last year).  The beneficiaries of the NIHR educational and training programs included law enforcement agencies, academics, advisory and trade union organizations as well as civil society organizations, youth, students of both public and private schools, universities, human rights defenders and private and commercial institutions.

Dr. Al-Fadhel stressed that the training programs provided by the NIHR’s main objective is the promotion of the culture of human rights for all groups of society and that the NIHR is working on developing integrative and continuous programs in cooperation with all relevant parties to achieve the desired goals in the field of human rights in terms of briefing and raising awareness on the fundamental rights and freedoms

The NIHR’s Secretary-General welcomed the cooperation of the Asia-Pacific Forum (APF) with the national human rights institutions and other organizations and stakeholders in order to activate the NIHR’s educational role pursuant to its Incorporation Law.
