NIHR Chairperson Holds a Virtual Meeting with the Dutch Ambassador

Ms. Maria Khoury, Chairperson of the National institution for Human Rights (NIHR), convened a meeting with Mr. Laurence Westhoff, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands, appointed to the Kingdom of Bahrain and residing in the State if Kuwait, by videoconference technology.

During the meeting, Ms. Khoury reviewed the NIHR efforts to support, promote and protect human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, especially in light of the current global circumstances of the Coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19).  She also touched on NIHR’s call center and complaint-receiving mechanism, as well as the training and educational programs provided by the NIHR to various segments of society.

The two sides also discussed a number of issues of common interest, and discussed strengthening means of cooperation and coordination to unify efforts in areas related to human rights.

For his part, the Dutch Ambassador expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation for the efforts made by the NIHR, praising the strong ties that bind the two friendly countries, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain and its people continued prosperity and progress.
