NIHR receives IPI MENA Director

Mr. Abdullah Ahmed Al-Derazi, Vice chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), received at the NIHR’s headquarters in the Seef district Mr. Nejib Friji, Director of the International Peace Institute’s Middle East and North Africa (IPI MENA) Regional Office in Manama. Present was Ms. Maria Khouri, Head of NIHR’s Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

At the beginning of the meeting, NIHR’s Vice Chairperson welcomed Mr. Friji, noting the prominent role played by the International Peace Institute (IPI) that is based in Manama, reviewing with him the framework of cooperation and coordination between the two sides in the area of human rights, especially the institutional structure of promoting and spreading the culture of human rights and aspects of cooperation between the NIHR and various human rights bodies, stressing that the NIHR supports and encourages the educational and academic process.

For his part, Mr. Friji valued NIHR’s efforts and its keenness to promote and develop the culture of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, stressing the IPI MENA Regional Office’s desire for cooperation between the two sides, in light of the NIHR’s prominent role in the dissemination and promotion of the culture of human rights.
