NIHR and Türkiye’s Human Rights and Equality Institution Discuss Ways to Enhance Cooperation

Eng. Ali Ahmed Alderazi, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), received Professor Fahrettin Altun, President of the Human Rights and Equality Institution of the Republic of Türkiye, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the two institutions in the field of the protection and promotion of human rights.

During the meeting, Eng. Alderazi welcomed the Turkish guest, underscoring the importance of exchanging expertise and best practices among national human rights institutions, in a manner that supports efforts to entrench human rights principles in line with international standards and to enhance protection mechanisms and institutional empowerment.

For his part, Professor Altun expressed his appreciation for the role of the National Institution for Human Rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, commending its institutional experience and affirming the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye’s keenness to expand avenues of joint cooperation in pursuit of shared humanitarian objectives and the strengthening of regional and international partnerships.

The two sides also explored prospects for cooperation across several areas, including the exchange of expertise and visits, as well as the implementation of joint training programmes, reflecting both parties’ commitment to fostering a culture of human rights and advancing its sustainable developmental pathways.
