NIHR Embarks on Strengthening Communication with a Visit to Muharraq

In the context of enhancing communication with all sections of society and stating the foundations and principles of human rights, as well as the goals for which the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) was established, Ms. Maria Khoury, Chairperson of the Council of Commissioners, visited His Excellency Mr. Salman bin Isa bin Hindi, Governor of Muharraq Governorate, where she presented a brief on the role of the NIHR in dealing with the human rights situation at the local and international levels through constant communication with the relevant authorities to find out the most important facts and developments, with a view to continuing success of the human rights, democratic and development process in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

During the meeting, which was attended by Dr. Fawzeya Alsaleh and Dr. Malallah Alhammadi, members of the Council of Commissioners, Ms. Khoury appreciated the efforts of the Governor and all workers in the Governorate in the framework of enhancing communication with all groups of society, expressing NIHR’s readiness to cooperate with any initiatives aimed at the public good.

For his part, His Excellency the Governor welcomed the NIHR’s representatives, stating the strong ties of Bahraini community, expressing the aspirations of the Governorate to enhance cooperation with the NIHR, being one of the independent national mechanisms, through sharing expertise and knowledge and practical gains, both at the bilateral and councilors levels.

The attendees showed their interest in the work of the NIHR and admired its tasks and powers, which embody the promotion and protection of human rights for all, and raised a number of questions and inquiries related to the NIHR’s work and competencies, where the NIHR’s representatives answered them all.
