NIHR receives a Delegation of British Experts in the Areas Police Behavior Investigation and Monitoring

HE Ms. Maria Khouri, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), received a delegation of British experts in investigation and monitoring of police behavior, accompanied by Mr. Mohamed Al-Hazzaa, Acting General Counsel and Head of Special Investigation Unit, in the presence of Mr. Khalid Abdul-Aziz Al-Shaer, Member of the Board of Commissioners, and Dr. Khalifa bin Ali Al-Fadhel, Secretary General of the NIHR.

Ms. Khouri welcomed the visit of the British delegation to the Kingdom of Bahrain, stressing the coordination and cooperation with the United Kingdom in various fields, especially in the field of human rights.  Ms. Khouri gave a brief about the establishment and development of the NIHR, its role in human rights education and awareness, the programs held for university students, law enforcement personnel, judges and the public, and the constructive cooperation with other official bodies in the Kingdom of Bahrain, especially the Special Investigation Unit.

For his part, Dr. Al-Fadhel presented a summary of the most important achievements recently made by the NIHR, as well as the training and educational programs that targeted the law enforcement personnel, including members of the National Security Agency (NSA), where 1308 members were trained during the first half of this year.

The meeting also touched on the human rights issues that the NIHR focuses on, such as the rights of people with disabilities, Sustainable Development Goals, health, climate change and business management.

For their part, the British delegation praised the role of the NIHR in the promotion of human rights, stressing the importance of cooperation between the NIHR and the competent authorities in the United Kingdom, thus contributing to the promotion of the culture of human rights.
