A delegation from the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) has conducted an unannounced field visit to the Correction and Rehabilitation Centre in Jaw region to follow-up on the precautionary and preventive measures followed by the General Administration of Correction and Rehabilitation in relation to providing health services to all inmates.

During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the vaccination process for a number of inmates who wish to receive the Coronavirus vaccination, which is carried out in cooperation with the Health Affairs Department.

The NIHR’s delegation met with persons-in-charge of the Centre’s Administration and were briefed on procedures taken by the Administration and ensured that vaccination reached everyone without any discrimination, starting from providing antivirus vaccination to the vaccination process, including introducing inmates to the types of vaccinations available, and the importance of taking vaccination due to its important role in enhancing the body's immunity to avoid complications of the virus, especially for those suffering from chronic diseases.

The NIHR expresses its satisfaction with the vaccination procedures carried out by the Centre’s Administration, which covered all classes of inmates and workers at the centre alike without discrimination, as the vaccination process is carried out in a healthy and accurate manner in accordance with the best international medical standards, which reflects the extent of the Ministry of Interior's keenness to safeguarding the rights of inmates and maintaining them on an equal footing with their fellow members of the community.

On the other hand, the NIHR continuously follows-up on all precautionary and preventive measures taken by the General Administration of Correction and Rehabilitation with regard to providing health services to all inmates.  In this regard, the NIHR expresses its sincere thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Interior for their constructive cooperation in order to protect the rights of inmates and achieve the goals set to limit the spread of this virus and address it through the precautionary measures taken to confront the pandemic, and in a way that contributes to protecting the health and safety of inmates.
