NIHR and NDHR Sign a Memorandum of Understanding

On the sidelines of its participation in the International Conference on International Solidarity and Sustainable Development Plan 2030 held in Cairo, Egypt, the National institution for Human Rights (NIHR), represented by its Chairperson Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, and Ambassador Jassem Mubarak Al-Mubaraki, Chairman of the National Diwan for Human Rights (NDHR) in the sisterly the State of Kuwait, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the NIHR and NDHR, with a view to deepening cooperation in the field of promoting human rights, within the competencies determined by the national legislation of each party, in addition to exchanging information and technical cooperation between the two sides.

On this occasion, Al-Derazi stated the importance of signing this MoU in which the two parties will work, within the limits of their competencies, according to a joint mechanism to contribute to the protection and promotion of a culture of human rights in both countries, by organizing scientific and practical conferences, seminars and training courses at the local, regional and international levels.

For his part, Ambassador Al-Mubaraki explained that the signing of an MoU with the NIHR in the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain contributes to strengthening the frameworks of cooperation between the two sides, in the fields of human rights, especially the exchange of expertise and successful experiences and training of national cadres in the fields of work of national institutions.

The MoU aims at firming up bonds of coordination and joint cooperation with regard to consolidating the principles of human rights, and working to strengthen, encourage, disseminate and develop them.  The cooperation also includes exchanging visits, legal and human rights advice, publications, literature and specialized studies, in addition to arranging and organizing workshops in the field of human rights.
