NIHR and Nasser Vocational Training Centre (NVTC) discuss Ways to Enhance Cooperation

Ms. Maria Khoury, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), held a teleconference meeting with Dr. Abdullah Nassr El-Nuaimi, Executive Director of Nasser Vocational Training Centre, and commended the distinct efforts made by the Centre to develop the rehabilitation system in its essence and primary goal, and the role it plays in rehabilitating Bahraini youth through pioneering and innovative programs to achieve the aspirations of young people to be positive givers and fruitful service providers to society and the country after exiting the correctional institution, praising at the same time the Centre's response to the alternative sanctions program, which mainly aims at reform and rehabilitation.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between them and the importance of signing a memorandum of understanding aimed at deepening cooperation with regard to training and developing the skills of national staff in areas related to human rights to raise human rights awareness of inmates benefiting from the center’s programs, based upon the NIHR’s role in spreading and strengthening a culture of awareness of respect for human rights between society members and in activation of the principle of community partnership between the NIHR and educational institutions.

For his part, Dr. El-Nuaimi appreciated the NIHR’s role by providing support and assistance for training programs aimed at promoting, protecting and disseminating a culture of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, looking forward to further cooperation with the NIHR to advance the qualification level of the people of the homeland in a manner befitting the Kingdom's position at the regional and international levels in the area of promotion and protection of human rights.
