The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) organized a round table for the Legal Clinic and Human Rights training program students at the University of Bahrain, at the training center at the NIHR’s headquarters.  The meeting was attended by around 40 male and female students as well as program supervisors at the university and other departments.

NIHR department students made detailed presentations on their previously attended subjects through the various events hosted by the NIHR under this program, through which a lot of relevant issues were introduced and discussed, including the introduction of the national human rights institutions and their historical development and legal framework as well as the concept of mechanisms of enhancement and protection of human rights.

The meeting also included practical application of dialogue skills and exchange of ideas and relevant information as well as NIHR’s role in the protection of human rights.  This application was permeated by several discussions between students and attendees on the subject under discussion.

At the end of event, HE Mr. Abdullah Al-Derazi, NIHR’s Vice chairperson, thanked the students and organizers of the Legal Clinic program, stressing that the Legal Clinic is one of the most important national projects that help the students to link academic education with practice in reality.  At the same time, he pointed out that the NIHR always strives for the success of this national project and provides all support in order to contribute to the development of legal and human rights capabilities of our students as per applicable rules, wishing them all success.

It is worth mentioning that the Legal Clinic program aims to add a number of practical skills to the students, such as teamwork, project launching and management, time management, body language, communication and advocacy, interviewing clients and accepting complaints, through hands-on training that enables them to acquire these skills.
