NIHR Starts its Training Program for the Legal Clinic Students via Teleconference

In line with its role in the dissemination and enhancement of a culture of awareness of the respect for human rights among members of the community, and in order to activate the principle of community partnership with educational institutions, the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) started its training program for students of the Legal and Human Rights Clinic at the University of Bahrain for the second semester 2020 – 2021 by teleconference.

The program was opened by Mrs. Latifa Rashed Al-Jalahma, Director of the NIHR Legal Affairs and Training Department, where she welcomed the participating students and stated the importance of this national program that will contribute to increasing human rights and legal awareness among students.  She provided a detailed explanation about the training mechanism in the Legal Clinic (NIHR section).  She gave an overview of the main topics of the program, including:  general information on human rights and fundamental freedoms, the national, regional and international mechanisms for protection of human rights, the NIHR’s role in promoting and protecting human rights and basic freedoms and training students on research of electronic references and sources related to human rights.

The program, which extends to May 2021 two days per week, will be implemented by a number of specialists in the legal and human rights field, with the participation of a number of students selected by the Legal Clinic at the University of Bahrain.
